Picnic

Sunday, August 23, 2020
Dewey and Candy Swalheim Farm

This has been a different year for the Westport Squares and the rest of the world. Because of the nasty Coronavirus which has hit the world, we have canceled all our dances since mid March and will not dance again until possibley the new year. Westport wanted to gather to visit and catch up on how everyone was managing being in various phases of quarantine.

Thirty nine of us gathered at the Swalheim farm to visit and catch up on how everyone was managing. It was a different picnic than before. No food, or beverages were furnished by the club. We brought our own chairs and food/drink if we wanted.

The weather was beautiful and Dewey and Candy had the perfect setting for this. It was warm but beautiful weather, nice breeze circulation through the farm building. Thank you Dewey and Candy. You helped in a big way to make this happen.

The Westport Squares are happy to welcome two new graduates to our club. We had 46 square dancers and a few guests to celebrate this occasion. The Dave Crowley family with the help of our other members put on a good welcomeing celebration. It was a fun evening playing a few games and enjoying snacks brought by the members and a graduation cake. It was a fun evening.

2020 Annual Dinner/Meeting

January 11, 2020
Lakeview Lutheran Church

The Annual Dinner was another success. There was a huge snow storm predicted and we all worried about if everyone would get to and from Lakeview successfully. Well, yes, we had just one member who was not able to come because of the distance he had to travel. There were 40 people in attendance. We started out early and enjoyed some hor dourves beverages and some good conversation.

HyVee again was the caterer. The meal was good and pleasing warm/hot. We enjoyed baked chicken, swiss steak, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, 7 layer salad, rolls. Dessert was cherrty crisp. It was all good and everyone walked away satisfied.

Following dinner we had a brief meeting of thanking the outgoing board and welcoming the new board of directors. Square and round dancing was enjoyed with Tom and Kathy Nickel.

Everyone appeared to be having a good time. Fortunately the weather was not as bad as had been reported.

Thank you to everyone who helped put this evening together. A good time was had by all
